FERNANDO TORRES SIGNS ONE-YEAR CONTRACT WITH ATLETICO MADRID







The striker will remain in the Spanish capital after rumours had him close to a departure

Fernando Torres and Atletico Madrid have come to agreement on a new one-year contract, the club announced Wednesday.

The striker was out of contract and had been rumoured to be potentially leaving the club, with reports a few weeks ago suggesting he could land in Mexico's Liga MX.

But Torres will instead remain with the capital club, which is barred from registering any new players during the summer transfer window after failing to win their appeal of a ban for improperly registering young players.

Real Madrid are reportedly considering the possibility of re-signing Achraf Hakimi just a year after selling him to Inter Milan. According to a report from Spanish publication  El Gol Digital , reigning La Liga champions Real Madrid are keen on bringing Achraf Hakimi back to the club from Serie A giants Inter Milan. Having come through the youth ranks at Real Madrid, Hakimi made his senior debut in October 2017 but managed only 17 appearances before he was sent out on a two-year loan spell at Borussia Dortmund in 2018. The right-back thrived in Germany, establishing himself as a key member for the Bundesliga outfit.
